MILLE BORNES THE CLASSIC CAR RACING CARD GAME! Made In The U.S.A.! 
A family favorite for over 40 years! Hello, I am one of the web developers for Live And Learn. I was asked to write about the card game Mille Bornes because I have been playing it since it was first released in 1962. That's right, I am the old guy here at Live And Learn. If you browse our site you will notice we focus on educational games and toys. We like games which are fun, but at the same time teach children important skills. Well, to say Mille Bornes will build important skills would be a stretch. Yes, when playing the game your child will have do some simple math (adding up his/her miles traveled and some subtraction is involved to figure out how many more they need for the trip). But overall, this is not really an educational game, it is just one of our favorite games of all time. Like I said earlier, I have been playing Mille Bornes since it was first introduced. I was ten years old at the time (yep, that means I am 52 at this writing). I played the game with my family when I was young (my parents and my sister who is seven years my senior). As I aged, I played the game with friends when I was a teenager. When I was in my twenties, and dating my future wife, I played the game with her and other couples. After marriage my wife and I continued playing the game with family and friends. And now that we have children of our own (two teens) we play the game with them. As you can see, this is a game you can give a child, and they may play it for the rest of their life...as I have done! Am I unusual? I don't think so. I know other adults who have been playing the game since they were children as well. Those of us who play Mille Bornes rate it up there with other great games such as Scrabble.
Mille Bornes, which is pronounced "meel born" is French for "milestones". It is a car racing card game. The object of Mille Bornes is to be the first player or team (you can play individually or as teams) to complete a series of road trips. Along the way you may come to red lights or speed limits. You may get into an accident or encounter other hazards. To win at Mille Bornes requires strategy, skill and a little luck. It is a fast paced enjoyable card game. If you are looking for a good game, which has passed the test of time, then give Mille Bornes a try. I love it, and I am pretty sure you and your children will love it too. For ages 8 and up.
